Georgetown is one of Seattle’s few predominantly industrial neighborhoods, sitting inside the Greater Duwamish Manufacturing/Industrial Center. The city’s 2023 Industrial and Maritime Strategy replaced the older industrial zones here with Maritime Manufacturing/Logistics (MML) and Urban Industrial (UI) — the latter written explicitly for the light-industry, makers, and creative-arts uses that fill Georgetown’s historic brickwork and the old Rainier Brewery.
A commercial strip along Airport Way S — bars, galleries, and an artist live-work tradition dating to the 1980s — gives Georgetown a neighborhood center inside the jobs district. Metro routes (including the 124 and 131/132) connect it to downtown and to Link light rail at Tukwila; there is no light rail in Georgetown itself.
